Factory warranty coverage
Factory warranties are valid for a number of years or miles, whichever comes first. The warranties typically cover defects in materials or workmanship. It is a good idea to maintain your car in accordance with the maintenance schedule outlined in your owner's manual and to keep your receipts/ record, in order to ensure that your warranty remains in effect. Most manufacturers require that your car be serviced by an authorized dealership for repairs, except for in the case of emergencies. Aftermarket parts (e.g., accessories such as alarm, radio, which are not installed by the manufacturer) are typically not covered by your factory warranty, so be sure to thoroughly read through the documentation provided with your vehicle to understand the limitations.
