While Warranty Week readily admits its data is incomplete, it has prepared an excellent draft (Version 1) set of estimates for who's who in the warranty industry. The data in the pie chart and table below is for all warranties. But, it gives you a good feel for the relative size of warranty providers. It may be helpful when evaluating claims made by warranty sellers relative to their size and/or experience. For example: WarrantyDirect.com claims on their website (www.warrantydirect.com/warrantydirect/compare_us.asp), "No other warranty company can match our stability, financial strength and longevity." Given their position as 16 th largest warranty administrator, that they barely break into the top 10 automotive warranty administrators and that they hold just over 1% market share, it is difficult to understand the foundation for this claim.
